Literature Review Example Introduction
There have been lots of controversy about founding Kurdistan in Middle East and many countries have different interests in the emerging of Kurdistan. Leaving aside everthing, the opinions of the minorities is a key fact that will affect the situation of Kurdistan in Middle East. This paper aims to analyze Kurdistan by answering the research question that asks “Would the policies of IMF towards the minorities affect founding Kürdistan in a positive or negative way in terms of changing the Kurdish people’s minds about the need of a new country?”. This literature review includes several articles which give an insight about Kurdish society, economic situation of Kurdistan and policies of IMF and World Bank.
Literature Review Example Body
The first article that will be useful for analyzing how the ideas of Kurdish minorities may get affected by the economic policies of IMF is written by Anne Kruager with the heading of “The Political Economy of Rent-Seeking Society”. Kruager mentions in her article that “These restrictions give rise to rents of a variety of forms, and people often compete for the rents. Sometimes, such competition is perfectly legal” (Kruager, 2011). Kruager’s article may be important for the analysis of the research question as it deals with the relationship between societies and economic issues, which is similar to what is being observed by the research question. The article concludes by stating that “focus has been on the effects of competition for import licenses under a quantitative restriction of imports” (Kruager, 2011) and in this sense the article may give opinions about the effects of changing policies about the Kurdish minorities.
The second resource is written by Shahrukh Rafi Khan and it analyzes whether the policies created by World Bank and IMF really work or not (Khan, 1999). The writer underlines in the book that the focus is analyzing some specific policies of IMF and World Bank by the aid of having the point of view of the countries that are currently have a structural reform. As the book gives the analysis of real policies that are created by IMF and World Bank, it is seen helpful to use it as a resource for the analysis of the research question that is being investigated.
Thirdly, another important article for the investigation of the research question is written by Ali Tawfik-Shukor, which analyzes how the health services in Iraqi Kurdistan may get effected by the policy processes (Ali Tawfik-Shukor, 2009). The article takes into consideration the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan. This article is the only article that searches about the policies used in Kurdistan and in this sense it is thought to be useful for the research question. Thus, including this article in the literature review will help understanding policies in Kurdistan.
The fourth resource that will be used in this research is written by Michiel Leezenberg and it gives an analysis of Iraqi Kurdistan in terms of economy, ideology and politics. This article is not directly related with the research question but it should be included in the literature review as it gives an overview of important issues about Kurdistan and insights about Iraqi Kurdistan should be understood well in order to make a specific analysis about it. Thus, Leezenberg’s article, which gives an analysis of Iraqi Kurdistan between 2013 and 2015 (Leezenberg, 2015) should be included in this literature review.
The last article is also not directly related with the research question. The article investigates the unequal distribution of Foreign Direct Investment and Foreign Direct Investment in the federal region of Kurdistan (Almas Heshmati, 2008). The article is important for the research question because it analyzes Kurdistan in an economic perspective and it can give an insight how the ideas of minorities would be affected if IMF included FDI in the policies for minorities.
Literature Review Example Conclusion
The research question is expected to fill a gap in the literature. During the broad literature review, the one and only article found, which is somehow close to the research question is (Ali Tawfik-Shukor, 2009). Thus, there are no articles which consider the effect of minorities on the foundation of Kurdistan and the policies of IMF and this article is going to fill this gap in the literature.
